RE: Dish Network. Any tips for new customer?

My advise, is change to DirecTV. Much easier to set up.
Uh, ok... So I should switch to DirecTV after 11 years of satisfaction with Dish, due to easier setup? Easier than 5 minutes or so on the phone? :@
Just kidding... Whatever makes you happy!
Actually my advise was to the OP, it has nothing to do with customer service, it is due to the fact if he is going to use the dish for his RV, DirecTV is easier to set up at the campsite. Dish Network has that funky angle to the dish. I've seen many campers get so frustrated they finally gave up, after watching me set mine up in 5 minutes or less. It has nothing to do with the "home" service.
direct has 5 LNB dishes, setting the "funky" angle is really tough, isn't it. somebody has posted in the past that in most of the lower 48 except far North, that you really can set it and forget it.
and Dish has the downloadable form to fill out for RV use whereas Direct wants a second contract for the RV.
bumpy
I have a extra dish and box for our trailer and it costs me $5 a month, I don't have any extra contract. I was not trying to argue, but if you look at the posts' in reference to dish setups, most feel that DirecTV is easier to set up.

RE: Winterizing

No, you need to use the RV pink stuff. Automobile antifreeze is poisenous. Walmart usually has it, as well as any RV store. I would drain and blow out all the lines just to be safe until you can locate some. But it gets pretty cold where you are, you do need to winterize or you will have problems. And again, do NOT use the automobile stuff. And yes, you can winterize and still camp, just don't use the water, or use it and rewinterize. Good luck.

Sounds like you are not connected to the Internet...could it be a firewall?

RE: Brake controller question

That's the difference between a "cheap" one and a "good" one. Get a Prodigy, you won't have the jerkyness that the cheaper ones tend to give you. The price difference is not huge. You can adjust it so the wheels won't lock up on you, but it will still be jerky at low speeds. Good luck.

RE: Another New Set of Dumb Questions

That is a pretty vague question, to many variables. Depends on the make and model, condition of the rig, and how long it has been on the dealers lot.
On edit, now that you posted "some" of the info needed, the year would be fairly important.

RE: winterizing

Pull the cord as if you trying to start it, with the unit in the off position, continue to pull until no more water comes out. Thats how I do mine.

RE: Atwood Water Heater Anode Rods

I have a Suburban Tank which has an anode, I rarely will have the water heater full for more than three days. When were back home I have to pull the Anode out in order to drain the tank. If I only use the water heater for three days, then drain it, do I really need an anode rod? Draining the tank is a pain in the neck. I'd rather install a drain valve of brass and drain it that way. Any Thoughts?
Yes you need the Anode. I drain mine after every use, it takes 5 minutes. If you remove the Anode and install a drain you can plan on replacing the WH, then you can buy a Atwood that doesnt require a Anode. Good luck.

RE: Probably a dumb question about Grey/Black water...

I have never seen a maximum time, I think 6 weeks is ok between dumps. As long as you are controlling odors I see no problem with it. Good luck.

You mentioned it was "stinking", could it possibly be a clogged catalytic converter? Sounds like you covered all the other bases...

Reset the GFCI, it should restore your power. Sometimes they go bad, you may need to replace it.

RE: Campground Pet Policies

They will vary from CG to CG, but you will be expected to have the dog on the leash at all times, and pick up after them. Most Cg's frown on "barkers". Other than that...use common sense.

RE: Atwood Water Heater Anode Rods

Atwoods do not use Anode rods ,they have a drain plug, the Suburbans use the Anode rods.
